The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC) revealed his polices to expand and develop tourism in Laamu atoll, together with a pledge to implement multiple developmental projects in the atoll.
Speaking at the campaign rally held in Laamu Fonadhoo, Dr. Muizzu said that Laamu atoll would play an important role in the future of Maldives. He said this line of thinking requires additional land in the central island of Fonadhoo, where the Atoll Council is based.
"Its a project that has to be implemented for the economic benefit of this atoll and this island. The project will become an investment because the amount spent will be earned back and the people will benefit from it." said Dr. Muizzu.
Dr. Muizzu has announced plans for a Social Housing Project to be executed on the reclaimed land in Fonadhoo. As part of this initiative, housing units will be assigned for the staff of nearby resorts.
Speaking further, Dr. Muizzu said that he has plans to establish language schools in 3 regions of the Maldives, and that university campuses would be established in the island of Fonadhoo together with a language school. He also pledged to establish a convention Centre in Fonadhoo.

The largest tourism development project announced by Dr. Muizzu for Laamu atoll was the mega project on Asseyri Tourism which includes Gan and Fonadhoo.
Dr. Muizzu said the work that was started during President Yameen's administration in Laamu Baresdhoo would be resumed and an additional resort would be developed in Hulhimendhoo which is located near Maamendhoo, as well as a Hotel School.
Speaking further about the Hotel School, Dr. Muizzu said, "The facility will function as both a training provider and a recipient of training. It will offer employment and training together, effectively operating as a resort. Income will be generated. People will be trained. More people will get jobs." Dr. Muizzu also pledged to develop the facility to international standards.
Dr. Muizzu said a resort will be developed between Gaadhoo and Fonadhoo and the two islands will be linked by a causeway.
"This atoll will be developed in various ways. Employment will increase. With the grace of Allah, the people will be happy. Therefore, you should decide on what to do 7 days from now." said Dr. Muizzu while addressing the people.
