President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences to the family of renowned film director and actor Ahmed Nimal, who died after suffering a stroke while undergoing treatment in hospital.
In a condolence message shared on social media, the President expressed sympathy to Nimal’s family and prayed for his soul to be granted Allah’s forgiveness and eternal peace in Paradise.
According to reports, Nimal passed away early this morning while on ventilator support. He had been admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on 31 December last year after suffering a stroke.
Nimal made his film debut in 1984 with the film "Nufoozu" and went on to produce numerous well-known films, stage plays and television programmes. In 1991, the government conferred upon him the National Encouragement Award in recognition of his contributions to the Maldivian film industry.
