The Maldives has been named among the world’s leading travel destinations in the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards for 2026, placing the country in the top one percent of more than eight million listings worldwide.
The rankings, compiled from the volume and quality of verified traveller reviews over a period of twelve months, recognises destinations that consistently receive the highest ratings from visitors.
In this year’s global list, the Maldives ranked ahead of several major international cities, including Seoul, Abu Dhabi, and Budapest, reflecting its continued appeal to long haul travellers.
TripAdvisor also named the Maldives the third best honeymoon destination globally, based on traveller feedback, underlining its reputation for luxury and romantic travel.
The latest recognition follows a series of high profile awards for the country’s tourism sector. In 2025, the Maldives was named World’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards for a sixth consecutive year, a record for the industry.
Maldivian resorts have also received multiple international honours, including awards from Condé Nast Traveler and MICHELIN Key recognitions, further strengthening the country’s standing in the global luxury travel market.
