STELCO has said that electricity usage in Male' during peak hours on the first day of Ramadan was at 78 megawatts.
In a post on X, STELCO said that the electricity usage in Male' and Hulhumale' on the first day of Ramadan had been low due to the rainy weather. They said that the rate of usage is significantly low considering schools and offices were also closed during the first day of Ramadan.
STELCO said that even peak hours had seen only 78 megawatts of electricity usage. The peak hours, according to STELCO, is between 4pm and 5pm.
After 6pm, usage had fallen to 68 megawatts.
STELCO said that previously, the usage during peak hours in Ramadan is on average at 100 megawatts.
Meanwhile, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that this year, too, a 10 percent discount would be granted on electricity bills during Ramadan.
