Chinese Ambassador Meets with Maldivian Media, Highlights Future Cooperation

Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua, held a meeting with representatives from major Maldivian media outlets on May 13 to discuss China-Maldives relations, development projects, and prospects for future cooperation.
The meeting, attended by nearly 20 media organizations—including The Maldivian Journal, PSM, and reels also saw the participation of Minister Counsellor He Fen, Counsellor Zhang Xu, and other diplomats from the Chinese Embassy. Ambassador Kong shared insights from the recent Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries, highlighting China's foreign policy and outlining the vision of a “peaceful, secure, prosperous, beautiful, and amicable home.”
In a Q&A session, the ambassador addressed media questions about China-backed infrastructure projects in the Maldives and reaffirmed China's commitment to supporting the country's development. He emphasized mutual respect and collaboration as the foundation of China-Maldives ties.
Media representatives thanked the ambassador for his candid engagement and described the bilateral relationship as a model for equal partnerships. They expressed hope for deeper cooperation with the embassy to enhance public understanding and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations.
