Tax Tribunal Appointments Move Forward With 14 Candidates Under Review

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has moved to address five impending vacancies on the nation’s Tax Appeal Tribunal, submitting the names of 14 applicants to Parliament for review.
The Judiciary Committee has been assigned to examine the slate, a step necessitated by the expiration of the terms of five sitting members on 29 November. Applications for the positions were opened twice by the President’s Office. The second call yielded 14 candidates, all of whom have now been forwarded to parliament.
The candidates are: Ahmed Yameen, Shifza Abdul Gayoom, Aishath Isha, Usama Moosa, Hassan Nasih Ahmed, Ibrahim Afeef, Hassan Zuhair Mohamed, Shaufa Ibrahim, Mohamed Waheed Ali, Imthishal Ahmed, Aminath Shadiya, Ibrahim Shareef, Mohamed Ameen Zahir, and Mohamed Abaan Ibrahim.
The tribunal, established under the Tax Administration Act, functions as the nation’s specialised body for adjudicating disputes and issues arising from taxation. Its role is central to safeguarding the integrity and fairness of the Maldives’ tax administration system.
