Transshipment harbor, not a reality claims former Econ Minister

The former Maldives Minister of Economic Development claims the current administration will not go forth with the transshipment harbor and iHaven project.
The former Minister of Economic Development and current Maavashu MP Mr Mohamed Saeed confirmed the master plan and feasibility studies for the project were completed during the previous administration.
Former Minister Saeed’s criticizing remarks come amid the current government’s recent announcement of seeking interested investors to develop a transshipment harbor in the North of the island nation.
The current Minister of Economic Development, Mr Fayyaz Ismail while speaking at the ‘Thiladhunmathi Iruvai Conference’ confirmed necessary research prior to project commencement were already underway.
Minister Ismail also explained the economical benefits of a transshipment harbor in Maldives.
The current administration’s plans have been criticized and retorted back by former counterpart.
Earlier, incumbent Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced a new master plan to develop Ihavandhippolhu – where project iHaven was designated – were being researched.
Maldives President had asserted the area will be developed under an integrated concept.
The iHaven Project has been mired in controversy since the previous government had failed to realize it during the former administration’s full presidential term.
