Former President and leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)، Maumoon Abdul Gayoom who is currently on a personal trip to Malaysia، has visited International Islamic University of Malaysia.
Maumoon who departed for the trip on the night of 9th September، wrote a tweet thanking the university for their warm welcome.
President Maumoon has been maintaining a close relationship with IIUM during his presidency and afterwards as well. He prioritised this university very much when sending Makdivians to abroad for higher studies.
During his presidency، he sent 18 people to IIUM for higher studies to appoint them as judges of various courts of Maldives، in an effort to reform the judiciary of Maldives and make it acceptable globally.
Although the ones sent to IIUM for higher studies returned to Maldives after graduation، Maumoon’s presidency ended and they were not given the chance from the benches of courts of Maldives.
