An international conference on counter terrorism and extremism has begun in Maldives.
Representatives from 13 countries are taking part in the conference. A total of 58 people are taking part in the conference including 5 international observers and 37 delegates from Maldives. Countries taking part in the conference includes, USA, India, Sri Lanka, UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Germany, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Singapore.
UN and Women’s International are playing a key role in the conference.
In addition, MATI has assisted in providing accommodation for foreign delegates in the conference. This is a two-day conference.
The participants will discuss how countries can cooperate to stop terrorism and extremism. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor said that this conference is being held at an important time with the initiative of Maldives. He noted the huge support received to the conference shows the importance of such a conference.
