Jumhooree party leader lashes government planned budget for 2015

Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim states government planned budget for next year has various issues in revenue generation projects.
Speaking at the Budget committee today، he stated stressed government had not specified policies regarding duty charges and questioned it’s effectiveness over budget stating to cut 25% duty to zero on gold and gold related commodities.
Gasim also highlighted the adverse effects on household expenses due to increased duty from oil and gas during an inflation indused period.
In addition to this، he also emphasized revenue generated projects are still more focused on Male’ and surrounding areas except for generalizing.
However، members supporting government had rebutted the claims stating the budget was meticulously produced to provide a special emphasis on citizens as a whole and more focus oriented on atolls.
Budget expected for next year totals up to MVR 24.3 billion.
