The people responsible behind the heinous attack on the member of ex-president Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team، lawyer Uz. Mahfooz Saeed، will be arrested and brought to justice، Home Minister Umar Naseer said.
On a tweet posted yesterday، home minister Umar highlighted the attack came in during a calm period.
“The Government strongly condemns the barbaric attack on Mahfooz، which has come after a prolonged period of calm. Perpetrators will face justice.” Umar said.
Lawyer Mahfooz was stabbed around 17:20 on Saturday near “Fresh” shop located at Maaveyo Magu. Allegedly a group of four individuals carried out the attack، however، no one has been arrested by the police regarding the case.
An intense operation was undertaken last night to remove the knife from Mahfooz’s head، and was successfully carried out by the doctors at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
IGMH Media Official، Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Vaguthu that after a 3-hour successful operation، Mahfooz is faring well.
