President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih returned to Malé City after a two-day visit to AA. Ukulhas on Tuesday.
President visited Ukulhas to participate in the national-level celebrations of World Environment Day 2023. President Solih emphasized the administration’s goal to transform the Maldives into a country that prioritizes environmentally friendly energy generation, during the event held Monday evening. It can be accomplished by minimizing reliance on fossil fuels and moving toward renewable energy sources, he added.
Moreover, President visited “Beat Plastic Pollution” festival held at the island. Information on waste recycling, garbage disposal, and waste segregation was presented at the festival. It also featured exhibits made of recycled plastic.
Furthermore, President met with the members of the Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Ukulhas on Tuesday and discussed the island’s socioeconomic development and the concerns of the island’s residents.
