Center for Neuroscience and Stroke opens at Dharumavantha Hospital

The National Center for Neuroscience and Stroke has opened at the Dharumavantha Hospital in the Maldivian capital.
The new center was inaugurated in a ceremony held on Sunday nigh by Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, the CEO of Male’ Group of Hospitals.
Addressing the ceremony, Haleem said that the center will pave the path for neurosurgeries to be conducted with the aid of robotics and other technological advancements in the future.
He said that it will also establish a nationwide network that ensures stroke patients across the country have access to speedy and high-quality medical care.
Haleem expressed hopes the center will facilitate integrated medical care in neurosciences, and also stressed the need for greater collaboration between different departments to ensure the care patients receive is holistic.
The National Center for Neuroscience and Stroke opened with Maldives’ first neurologist, Dr. Ahmed Rasheed; first neurosurgeon, Dr. Ali Niyaf; and first pediatric neurologist, Dr. Samahath.
Haleem said that more initiatives will be carried out in the coming days to expand and improve services at public hospitals.
