The Ministry of Social and Family Development has issued a strong advisory urging the public to refrain from sharing photos and videos of children on social media that could compromise their dignity and privacy.
The Ministry expressed serious concern over content that allows the public to identify children, whether directly or indirectly. Citing Article 33 of the Child Rights Protection Act, the Ministry emphasised that sharing personal information about minors—particularly those involved in criminal cases as suspects or victims—is strictly prohibited. This includes names, addresses, educational details, photographs, videos, and any information that could reveal their identity through any medium.
The law assigns the responsibility of safeguarding children’s rights to families, parents, guardians, society, and state institutions. Law enforcement agencies and related authorities have urged the public to report sensitive cases to relevant institutions rather than sharing them on social media platforms.
For concerns related to child protection and reporting of sensitive cases, the Ministry has provided dedicated hotlines: 1433, 1421, and 1412.
