The Maldives Immigration announced the temporary suspension of passport card services on Wednesday, as the agency carries out system upgrades.
The suspension of passport card services was announced by Immigration in a brief statement on Wednesday afternoon.
“Please be informed that passport card services is currently on hold due to ongoing system upgrades,” announced Immigration.
The agency apologized for the inconvenience this may cause.

Maldives introduced passport cards - a unique bio-metric multipurpose electronic card – in 2017. According to Immigration, the identity travel is equipped with MasterCard services, and can be used for insurance purposes of Allied Insurance. It also allows additional services such as Drivers’ License and other e-services like e-transport to be incorporated to the card.
