The government has signed an inter-ministry memorandum of understanding to bring data from all state-run health facilities under a single network.
The document was signed on Tuesday by Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen and Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal.
The project to setup this network will be open for public tender and the National Center for Information Technology will be assisting.
Health Minister Ameen said that the network will allow quicker access to databases, which in turn would mean quicker service at facilities.
The minister also said that he hopes that this would allow for easier access to medical care.
