Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has departed on an official visit to China on Wednesday night.
Speaking to the press at the airport on Wednesday night, Vice President Jameel said the primary purpose of the visit to seek China’s role in implementing President Abdulla Yameen’s economic agenda.
Discussions will also be held on assistance to infrastructure projects including the Male’-Hulhule’ bridge project, development of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and the I-Heaven transshipment port project in the north.
Vice President Jameel said that he is also scheduled to meet with Vice Premier of China Wang Yang and that he will discuss avenues of assistance to social housing projects with the Vice Premier.
President's Office said Vice President Jameel will attend the opening ceremony of the 2nd China-South Asia Expo and the 9th China-South Asia Business Forum.
Vice President Jameel is accompanied on this trip by Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed and Minister at the President’s Office Abdulla Ameen.
