Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed states surfers enjoying the sea at Raalhugandu point will not get affected by the construction of the Malé-Hulhulé bridge getting enacted from Tsunami tribute area crossing towards the south-end of Hulhulé airport.
While speaking at the borehole drilling inauguration ceremony held at Tsunami tribute location today morning، Minister Saeed stated that recreational activities such as surfing will not be affected by the bridge construction، however the opposition has started an anti-campaign to perceive the bridge as a negative element present in the area.
“Discussions held with Chinese technical team had been mainly focused on maintaining the ease of access for surfers at the Raalhugandu location” Minister Saeed said.
In addition to this Minister Saeed has highlighted on the benefits attached to the construction of the bridge، with the bridge serving as a new tourist attraction as well. According to Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed، Maldives had its economic state in a flailing position when President Yameen first took office، and since then the government had invested around $2.6 billion (MVR 40 billion) on the development and economy of Maldives.
Maldives had seen a total of 1.2 million tourist visits during last year’s economic run.
