ACC deputy states MMPRC report is complete and contains all evidence

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has stated that its report on the MMPRC embezzlement scandal is complete and covers all the evidence it has received.
Speaking on state media channel PSM on Thursday, ACC Vice President Muavviz Rasheed said that other institutions were not even able to investigate the MMPRC case as much as they did.
When asked why the report was not publicized as soon as it was compiled, Muavviz said that they initially decided not to publicize it but later did it due to public demand.
After the report was made public earlier this month, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also questioned the late timing, as he had called on authorities to publicize the report during his campaign run and he was not given the report even after assuming office.
Muavviz said that ACC disclosed the details to then President Abdulla Yameen after they compiled it in 2017, but did not say whether he briefed President Solih.
Despite Muavviz’s assurance that the report is complete, former auditor general Niyaz Ibrahim has said that it leaves out facts the state obtained on the MMPRC case.
Muavviz also highlighted that former vice president Ahmed Adeeb is the most involved in the embezzlement and said that ACC compiled the report after investigating the corruption involved in MMPRC through its leasing of 57 islands and is still continuing its investigation to clear-up the details.
He added that ACC sent its report to the Prosecutor General in 2017 but that the PG office did not respond or act on it.
