Japan provides grant to Maldives for sea ambulance provision

The government of Japan has extended a grant aid worth 400 million Japanese Yen (approximately USD3 million) to the Maldives government, towards economic and social development.
Furthermore, the grant exchange of notes were signed between the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmed Khaleel and the Japan’s Ambassador to Maldives Ms. Keiko Yanai.
The signing ceremony took place on 04 October, Monday at the premises of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Moreover, the grant aid from Japan’s government will be used to strengthen the Maldives health sector. Japan’s grant aid will be used towards the provision of sea ambulances with fully equipped necessary medical systems and trained staff.
With possible provision of the sea ambulances, the island nation hopes to provide a greater support to the locals in transportation with regards to medical emergencies and serious medical cases.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State expressed gratitude to Japan for yet again extending their assistance towards the development of Maldives.
