Maldives National Sailing Team will be competing in an international competition for the first time، says the National Sailing Association.
The national sailing team will be competing in the Indian Ocean Island Games to be held in Réunion from 1st to 8th August.
“This is an opportunity to test the skills and talents of Maldivians at an international level، and also an opportunity to get experience for the national team،” Hussain Amil، the president of the association said، expressing hopes to achieve gold medals.
Sailing Association expressed hopes that more youths will get interested in the sport with the participation in an international competition.
The National team consists of four male sportsmen and two female sportsmen. Maldives National Sailing Team is to hold a one-month camp in Seychelles before heading to Réunion for the Indian Ocean Island Games.
