Police have said that they requested the PG office to appeal the case of Magistrate Ibrahim Rasheed who was freed by the High Court last night.
High Court freed him after saying that police did not follow the procedure required to follow when arresting a judge. And hence the arrest was unlawful.
Even though police said that when he was arrested he was under the influence of drugs، the paper works issued to him by the police says that he was arrested because a packet which seemed to be drugs was found near him. During the hearing Ibrahim Rasheed said that he was framed and he accused the police of framing him. He also said that the packet of drugs was brought by police.
Police said that Ibrahim Rasheed refused to give urine sample and urinated on himself. Speaking at the hearing Ibrahim said that he refused provide urine sample because he was arrested unlawfully and he had to urinate on himself because police refused to let him go to a washroom.
High Court also highlighted that police had a chance to obtain a court warrant to arrest Ibrahim Rasheed but they did not do so.
