A large scale programme to collect information on migrant workers under “Operation Kurangi” has been launched in the Greater Male’ Area.
According to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, Saturday’s programme covers Male’ as well as industrial island Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu. The programme will run from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, with 75 officials involved in the event. The information on migrant workers employed at several large companies will be collected under the programme.
To date, the biometric data of over 18,000 foreigners have been collected as part of the Kurangi Operation. The primary objective of the operation is to establish a comprehensive database of foreign workers in three Maldives.
