Boduthakurufaanu Magu upgrades include add parking zone and lanes

Significant design upgrades are being implemented for the ongoing Boduthakurufaanu Magu development project, promising modernised infrastructure and major improvements to traffic flow in the capital, Male’.
The most notable change is a substantial widening of the road, adding around six metres to its breadth, which is already yielding positive results in completed sections.
To date, work on the segment stretching from Izzuddeen Jetty to North Harbour is finished. This has already greatly alleviated congestion in the busy service areas, making it easier for road users and reducing delays caused by the docking of ferry speedboats, large cargo ships, and fishing vessels. Attention has now shifted to the final four segments of the project.
The third segment is poised to bring the most transformative change to the area. To address a critical shortage of parking, a large new parking zone will be developed on land reclaimed from the harbour.
Following an inspection of the progress, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Dr Abdulla Muththalib announced that the zone, located in front of the Male' City Garden, will have the capacity for 500 motorcycles. This is a direct response to the current inadequate parking, which leads to illegal parking and severe congestion, creating difficulties for drivers, pedestrians, and ferry users in this key area near many offices and a hub for airport and resort travel.
Further enhancing commuter experience, a shaded waiting area with benches will be built to serve ferry users. Additionally, new parking lanes will be integrated along the various widened segments of the road. The government has set a target to complete all ongoing works on Boduthakurufaanu Magu by June end.
