The K. Diffushi Land Reclamation Project officially commenced today, marking a major step toward addressing the island’s long-standing land shortage.
The launch ceremony was held during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Diffushi, Kaafu Atoll, as part of his tour of inhabited islands in the atoll. The ceremony was graced by President Muizzu, with the official inauguration carried out by the Minister of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib.
Also in attendance were MTCC Managing Director Ahmed Saudhee, the Member of Parliament for Thulusdhoo constituency, and the President of Diffushi Council.
Under the project, 30 hectares of new land will be reclaimed for Diffushi.
According to the government, once completed, the project will effectively resolve the island’s land scarcity issue and create new opportunities for housing and development.
