10 people rescued from boat cast adrift, including a child

10 people have been rescued from a boat which was cast adrift after its engine halted.
Maldives Police Service said the authority received a report at approximately 15:50pm on Friday evening after, ‘Savaari’, a vessel from Fuvahmulah City, which was out for fishing was cast adrift after its engine halted.
The Police detailed Fuvahmulah City Police responded to the report, transferred the 10 people from those aboard the vessel to a Fuvahmulah City Police speedboat, and brought them back to Fuvahmulah.
They included seven women and a child.
The Police added that the vessel has been brought back to Fuvahmulah with assistance from another boat.
The authority confirmed that all passengers aboard the vessel are in good health.
Notably, the Maldives is currently facing bad weather forecasting with the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) forecasting rough seas and thunderstorms across the country tonight.
Authorities have always urged the public to avoid traveling without first checking weather reports during bad weather conditions.
