President ‎announces plans to develop five tourist resorts in Haa Dhaalu

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has ‎announced plans to develop tourist resorts in Haa Dhaalu atoll.
The President made this remark on Tuesday evening ‎at the meeting held with the people of Kulhudhuffushi.‎
The President ‎announced plans to develop tourist resorts in Haa Dhaalu hipparufushi, ‎Vaikarumuraadhoo, Kanamana, Kudafaru and Keylakunu.
Addressing the people, President Yameen described Kulhuduffushi ‎as the developmental hub of the North. Speaking further, the President ‎reiterated the Government commitment to work towards the development ‎of Kulhudhuffushi, ‎and highlighted proposed ‎ developmental projects for ‎the island.‎
Underscoring his Government’s key agenda for economic ‎transformation, the President emphasized the need to adopt new strategies ‎for developing the tourism sector, while also fostering the further progress ‎of atolls and the Maldivian people. In this regard, President Yameen ‎emphasized the government plans to establish Special Economic Zones in ‎‎different strategic locations across the country.
Meeting the people of the island, President Yameen stated that as ‎Kulhudhuffushi represented the developmental hub of the North, the ‎development of an airport on the island was both necessary and important.‎
In his speech, the President also underlined the Government’s ‎efforts to create an environment conducive to youth empowerment. Within ‎this context, President Yameen noted that as a result of his administration’s ‎tourism development plans, economic opportunities for youth would be ‎further enhanced.‎
