PPM has dismissed the rumors of former President and the party’s leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom trying to join a different political party.
According to a press release from PPM office today، they have stated that President Maumoon was elected as president of the party from 2012 to the next consecutive five years with a huge win.
The statement also stressed PPM’s president، Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has not expressed any wishes to change his political party or even to withdraw his designation from the party.
“This party’s president his excellency Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom does not have any wishes to leave the party or join another one، and we would like to confirm this to our beloved members” the statement read.
In addition to this، the statement also urged that PPM obeys all the democratic guidelines and that it is an ideal political party.
Recently there had been talks of President Maumoon’s former helmed party Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party’s (DRP) council had decided to nominate him for the party’s President، which was then followed by the rumors of Maumoon trying to join DRP once again.
