UNWTO Conference is very significant to the Maldives – Tourism Minister

Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Adheeb has stated that the upcoming World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) conference which will be held in the Maldives from the 3rd till the 5th of June will be a very significant event.
Speaking at the news conference held in regard to the event, Minister Adheeb stated that within the previous three years Maldives had established a very close relationship with the organization.
The Minister noted that while formerly UN conferences on tourism consisted of Deputy Ministers and State Ministers of the country where the event is being held, the upcoming event will include Ministers of three other countries.
"Ministers from India, Thailand and Malaysia will also be participating in the event,” stated Minister Adheeb.
Minister Adheeb added that since the conference which will be held in Bandos Island Resort, the event will assist in publicizing the country and contribute to the promotion of tourism of the country.
“Having this conference in the Maldives was a request by our country. A total of 20 countries will be participating in the conference. Experts in the field of tourism will be sharing their findings during the conference held for the Ministers,” he stated.
Minister Adheeb noted that the main topic of discussion at the conference will be Social and Economic aspects in its relationship
