Siyam calls for honest leadership this Republic Day

Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) President and Member of Parliament for Meedhoo, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, has called on state institutions to take decisive action against the theft and corruption of public property.
Delivering his address on the occasion of Republic Day, Siyam extended warm wishes to the Maldivian people and reflected on the significance of the day. He noted that the 57th anniversary of the Second Republic, marked on November 11, comes at a time of unprecedented economic hardship for the nation.
“In these difficult times, I urge all institutions to take strong steps to rescue the country from economic crisis and to prevent the theft of state property and corruption,” Siyam said.
He reminded leaders in the republican system of governance to uphold the public trust with sincerity and integrity. “I take this opportunity to remind the heads of state in a republican government to be faithful and sincere in serving the noble trusts of the people,” he said.

Siyam also called for equal employment opportunities for all citizens, condemning discrimination in access to jobs and development projects. “I call out loud that it is unacceptable to deprive any citizen of the right to employment and projects because of belonging to a particular colour,” he declared.
He concluded his speech with a prayer for national unity, Islamic faith, and the strengthening of the republic.
Siyam paid tribute to the founding figures of the Maldivian republic, recalling the brief First Republic established on January 1, 1953 under Mohamed Ameen Dhoshimeyna Kilegefaanu, and the current Second Republic declared on November 11, 1968 under the leadership of Ibrahim Nasir Rannabandeyri Kilegefan. He prayed for eternal blessings upon both leaders.
