Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed an agreement with Al-Madheena Investments Private Limited to establish and operate an educational institution and mosque in Hulhumalé 1.
The agreement was signed by HDC's Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Al Medina Investment’s CEO, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Ali Ahsan.
HDC signed the framework agreement with Al-Madheena Investments in May last year, which Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed previously had stakes in. The shares have now been transferred to his son, Abdulla Mahil Shaheem.
HDC said that under this project, the temporary mosque near Redwave City Square in Hulhumalé will be developed and integrated with the educational institute.
"The school will be able to teach pre-school students in two and a half years. After that, the school will be developed to accommodate students from grades 1 to 10 as well as students pursuing higher education," HDC said.

Madheena Investments, which also operates a “Kokkomenge Pre School”, in Malé, aims to offer a comprehensive Islamic education to students, the company said. HDC said that the institution will provide free education to underprivileged students and those with special needs.
