The Ministry of Health has introduced two new guidelines to enhance emergency response protocols for healthcare professionals in the Maldives.
The Emergency Medical Services Protocol and Mass Casualty Management Guideline were launched by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim and World Health Organization Representative Paden at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health.
These guidelines provide comprehensive procedures for responding to medical emergencies, including mass casualty incidents, a gap previously unaddressed in existing frameworks such as the National Emergency Operation Plan (NEOP) and Health Emergency Operational Plan (HEOP).
According to the Ministry of Health, the implementation of these guidelines will strengthen the country’s emergency healthcare system, improve coordination among healthcare providers, and ultimately save lives while minimizing potential damages.
