Gov’t invites nominations for National Award for Public Service

The National Awards Committee has officially opened nominations for the prestigious National Award for Public Service, inviting government offices, state-owned enterprises, and eligible organisations to recognise exceptional individuals who have devoted their careers to public service.
The award criteria and nomination guidelines have been published in the government gazette, setting out the formal requirements for this esteemed national honour, which is conferred directly by the President of the Maldives.
According to the official announcement, the National Award for Public Service recognises individuals who have served the state for more than 35 years and who have consistently demonstrated capability, integrity, and sincerity in the discharge of their official duties.
Successful nominees will be honoured with a shield, a distinctive badge of honour, and a commemorative certificate, all of which will be presented in a formal ceremony presided over by the President. The award represents one of the highest forms of recognition available to public servants in the Maldives.
Nominations may be submitted by a Government office, a State-Owned Enterprise, a company in which the Government holds a majority stake, or by the individuals themselves. However, the nominee must have either previously served or be currently serving in the respective office or organisation that is putting forward the nomination, ensuring that those put forward have genuine institutional knowledge and demonstrated commitment.
The Committee has specified that nominations will be accepted through the dedicated online submission portal at http://apply.presidency.gov.mv, starting from today. All applications must be submitted no later than 2:00 pm on 11 June. The Committee has urged applicants to exercise particular care when completing the nomination forms and to ensure that all required information is provided accurately along with the relevant supporting documentation.
The assessment process will evaluate nominees against multiple criteria, with particular emphasis on performance and sincerity in the discharge of their duties, as well as the application of their professional skills and abilities toward the advancement of their institutions as a whole. The Committee will also consider the nominee's active involvement in institutional work and any notable achievements attained throughout their professional career. A thorough verification process will be conducted, during which the Committee will examine whether any criminal or civil cases are presently pending against the nominee.
