A man who returned to the Maldives on Monday after performing Umrah died suddenly while in Thoddoo on Tuesday.
The deceased is Ahmed Latheef, known locally as Rathamalana Ahmed.
His sister, Fuvahmulah South West Council member Aiminath Inaya, told Sun that his passing was unexpected. She said the family only knows that he “stopped suddenly,” and further details are not yet known.
Ahmed had arrived in Male' on Monday after completing Umrah. Instead of returning to his home island, he travelled to Thoddoo for a short break with his family, Inaya said.
This is the second sudden death reported on Tuesday. Earlier the same day, a 16‑year‑old girl passed away unexpectedly in Kulhudhuffushi City.
