Prosecutor General’s Office has dropped the corruption case against son of former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon.
PG’s Office reported to “Sun” it decided to drop the case because the statute of limitation has passed on the case.
Article 61 of the Penal Code states the statute of limitation for felonies as eight years from the time of the crime, and the statue of limitation for misdemeanors as three years from the time of the crime.
