The President's Office announced Sunday that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will present the National Award of Honour to five individuals and the National Award of Recognition to 21 individuals this year.
The award recipients were selected by the National Awards Committee, which was constituted by the president. The recipients were determined as per the criterion published earlier in the government’s Gazette.
According to the Office, the awards will be presented in 33 categories.
While the national awards were previously presented on the Republic Day marked on November 11, the awards will be held at the official celebration of National Day on October 28 from this year onwards.
