Cleanliness has to be observed in order to differentiate from Jews: Islamic Minister

Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bagir has stated that cleanliness is part of faith and that as Muslims we have to observe cleanliness in order to differentiate from Jews.
He made the statement speaking in the opening ceremony of the national campaign against the spread of dengue.
“The Prophet had claimed that Jews are unclean and had ordered us to keep our surroundings and ourselves cleans in a bid to differentiate ourselves from Jews,” he said.
Dr. Ziyad said that it was a personal obligation as Muslims that we close all avenues for the spread of diseases and keep ourselves clean. He added that this can be achieved by united efforts.
Dr. Ziyad noted that the Government needs to take imitative in running such programs for the betterment of the citizens. He also noted that the Government taking initiative in such measures show that the Government prioritizes the welfare of the citizens above all.
He added that this was demonstrated by the fact many senior officials of the Government, private sector officials and employees and foreign diplomats were present in the ceremony.
