Appeal hearings over for a minor in Muheeth’s murder case

Appeal hearings have ended for one of the two minors who got a death sentence for the murder of Abdul Muheeth (Bobby) on 19th February 2012.
During the hearing in High Court today، state prosecutors said that based on eyewitness accounts، there is no reasonable doubt that the defendant took part in slaying Muheeth.
Speaking at the hearing the defendant’s lawyer Husnu Suood said that based on the evidence presented by the state it is evident that the defendant’s role is fighting with Muheeth and not murdering him. Suood said that Muheeth died when someone else who took part in the fight stabbed his heart with a knife and hence the defendants actions did not cause the murder.
However state prosecutor said that those who took part in attacking Muheeth should be responsible for Muheeth’s death. Since the appeal hearings have ended and if there is nothing else that needs to be made clear by the judge، in the next session the Judge will pass a sentence.
Three people who are above the age of 18 have also been charged with murder. Criminal court have not yet sentenced either of them.
