The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has announced the opening of applications for agriculture scholarships under the ‘Transforming Fisheries Management in South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives’ project, a collaborative initiative between the Government of Maldives and the World Bank.
The programme offers opportunities for four Bachelor's degree scholarships in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Botany and Entomology, and Natural Resource Management. Additionally, one Master’s degree scholarship is available in the field of Plant Protection.
According to the ministry, the eligibility criteria for the scholarships have been gazetted, with applicants allowed to apply for only one full-time programme. Prospective Master’s degree applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and possess at least two years of work experience in the sector. Meanwhile, applicants for the Bachelor’s degree scholarships must have obtained a minimum of a ‘C’ grade in five subjects in the GCE O-Level examination or a ‘C’ grade or above in three subjects in the GCE A-Level examination.
Successful candidates will receive official documentation required to secure admission to a university accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).
Interested applicants must submit their applications to the Management Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare by 12:00 p.m. on February 20, 2025.
