Local telecom company Ooredoo Maldives has announced that its annual Fun Run will be held in Laamu Gan this year, and has opened up a special link for registrations.
The popular five kilometre run, which saw over 5,000 participants last year in Hulhumalé, will be held on 5th July this year. Registrations are open for anyone over the age of six, and will include many fun activities.
Ooredoo says that the run will be enjoyable even for new runners and that the aim of the run is to demonstrate that running is a fun activity that contributes towards a healthy lifestyle.
“From the moment participants cross the starting line, they'll be immersed in a world of colours, thrilling obstacles, water sprays and a foam party to celebrate the completion of the run,” Ooredoo said.
The run is untimed, so runners will be able to take their time and enjoy the journey with their friends and family, laughing and cheering each other on as they complete the challenge.
The Ooredoo Fun Run - Laamu kits will be available in two categories. The first category kit worth MVR 100 is a standard kit that includes the Fun Run t-shirt and a wrist band. The second kit is worth MVR 200 and it includes the t-shirt, wristband, cloth bag, sunglasses and a bandana.
"We are thrilled to bring the community together for the Fun Run in Laamu Atoll. This event is not just about fitness, but about celebrating our vibrant culture and fostering unity. We look forward to seeing everyone participate and create lasting memories, Ooredoo Maldives' CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi said.
Applications are open until 10th June, 2024.
