The telethon launched by the Public Service Media (PSM) with 37 local media outlets to raise funds for Sri Lanka following Cyclone Ditwah, has successfully concluded.
The ‘Ceylon Aa Eku Dhivehin’ telethon commenced at 09:00 am on 30 November, and concluded at 2:00 pm on 1 December. A large number of citizens, government ministries, agencies, companies, clubs, associations, offices, and media made financial donations to the telethon. According to the latest data, the telethon raised over USD 782,300 through bank account transfers and donation boxes placed across Male’ City.
Sri Lanka has long been a close friend of the Maldives, with both countries enjoying strong brotherly relations. Sri Lanka is also home to one of the largest communities of Maldivians living abroad.
