STELCO dispatches gensets to 12 islands in preparation for peak season

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has commenced the dispatch of generator sets to 12 islands in preparation for the upcoming peak season and the month of Ramadan.
This initiative is part of the company’s annual efforts to maintain service quality during periods of high electricity demand.
According to STELCO, a total of 12 gensets will be sent to 12 islands under this project. These include 600kW, 800kW, and 1000kW units. The company aims to transport and complete the installation of these units across the islands before the start of Ramadan.
The company stated that these new gensets will enhance the power generation capacity of the islands, facilitating the provision of sustainable and high-quality services. STELCO further noted that this will increase the reliability of electricity services and improve the overall quality of service provided to the public.
Additionally, as part of the peak season preparations, a 1200kW generator set brought to the Villingili powerhouse has now been commissioned and put into operation. STELCO informed that this has increased the generation capacity in Villingili, further ensuring the reliability of electricity services on the island.
STELCO consistently strives to provide uninterrupted and convenient services to the public, even during periods of peak demand. Enhancing the capacity of island powerhouses remains a high-priority project for the company.
