CDS General Rawat put service to his nation above all else: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed condolences to India over the tragic passing of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India General Bipin Rawat.
Following the tragic death of CDS General Rawat in a helicopter crash on December 8, President Solih expressed his condolences to the family of General Rawat and the Indian nation for their loss. Highlighting their meeting in 2019, the president described General Rawat as a true soldier who put service to his nation above all else.
Meanwhile, Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi also expressed shock and grief at the tragic news, noting the Maldives has lost a good friend who worked hard to further the Maldives-India defence partnership. The minister expressed her heartfelt condolences to the Indian Armed Forces and the loved ones of CDS General Rawat.
CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other people on board an Indian Air Force helicopter died in a crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8.
