Chinese company donates stormwater pumps to Maldives

Chinese company, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), has donated stormwater pumps to the Maldives.
The handover the pumps took place during a ceremony held at Hulhumale’ Central Park on Monday, graced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

In this regard, the pumps were officially handed over by  Liu Xiaoda, Deputy General Manager of CMEC, while Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon received them on behalf of the Maldivian government.
According to Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the donation includes six stormwater pumps which will be deployed in the Greater Malé region, which is susceptible to floods during heavy rain.

Monday’s ceremony was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua and officials from CMEC.
