Projects have been awarded to Fenaka Corporation Limited and the Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) for the development of 24 new sports facilities across various atolls.
The projects were officially awarded to the companies at a ceremony held Thursday. According to the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Fenaka Corporation was awarded 13 projects to be carried out in select islands of Haa, Raa, Kaafu, Thaa, and Laamu atolls. These include the development of four outdoor gym, three futsal fields, two handball courts, two outdoor volley courts, and the construction of boundary walls for two football fields.
Eleven projects were awarded to RDC, including the establishment of five outdoor gyms, three football fields comprising of sub base work, turfing, boundary walls, fencing and lighting, one handball court, one futsal field, and the construction of a boundary wall for a football field in Biledhdhoo, Faafu Atoll, along with fencing and lighting installation.
The government aims to complete the projects over the next two years.
