MPL to Continue Clearing 150 Containers Daily During Ramadan

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has announced that it will maintain its target of clearing 150 containers per day throughout Ramadan, with operations pausing on Fridays.
Speaking at a press conference today, MPL’s Head of Port Operations, Ilyas Mohamed, stated that during full operational days in Ramadan, the company aims to clear 150 containers daily. On half-day operations, the company will work toward clearing at least 100 containers.
Ilyas emphasized that priority will be given to facilitating the clearance of imported perishable goods and general cargo to ensure a smooth supply chain during the fasting month.
MPL also highlighted ongoing challenges in cargo handling due to limited space at the port. To address this issue, the company plans to relocate empty containers to Thilafushi over the coming months to optimize port capacity and improve efficiency.
