Suood and Ali Hussain banned from the Courts
Legal attorneys Husnu Suood and Ali Hussain have been temporarily banned from providing counsel at the Maldivian courts. Department of Judicial Administration said that the two were banned after the Supreme Court made the decision today to investigate and make a decision on the two attorneys violating the sanctity of the courts. Suood and the MP for Kendhoo constituency, Ali Hussain was banned after the Supreme Court warned that they would take any step within the law to put an end to the violations of the sanctity of the courts to uphold that legal system working at the courts of the Maldives. On the issue, the lawyer and former Attorney General of the Maldives, Husnu Suood told Sun Media tonight that he would fully support the Supreme Court in their effort to protect the sanctity of the courts and welcome their efforts. A statement issued by the Supreme Court today said that it is the Constitutional duty of the Supreme Court to uphold the law. And the statement said that they would take steps against the lawyers when necessary and suspend temporarily or permanently ban them as the situation calls. The statement further said that some are misconstruing clear verdicts and it is to achieve some personal motives.
