Gender Ministry employee suspended over Ibthihal’s death case

An employee of Gender Ministry has been suspended over the death case of Mohamed Ibthihal، the three year old boy found dead with serious visible injuries on last week Wednesday in Rakeedhoo.
An official at the Ministry said Aminath Shiyaza، (Nalahiya، V. Fulidhoo) who works at Family and Children Service Centre in Vaavu Atoll Fulidhoo was suspended regarding Ibthihaal’s death case، media reports say.
Reportedly Shiyaza is not guilty of negligence، but was suspended as the case was being investigated.
A team of Gender Ministry officials and Police met with the family of Ibthihal after the authorities were reported regarding Ibthihal being physically abused، in December.
Aminath Shiyaza was reportedly a member of the team who claims has advised to keep the child under the care of the family. However، the family and Rakeedhoo island council denies her claims.
Attorney General Uz. Mohamed Anil made a statement before saying necessary steps will be taken against any staff of the Ministry who is found guilty of negligence regarding the death case of Ibthihaal.
