Passports of former President Nasheed, former Vice President Jameel and three others have been cancelled by the Maldivian Immigration.
The other two whose passport that got cancelled are former Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem and former Chairman of RajjeTv Akram Kamaaluddeen.
Immigration said that those who are fugitives and those who are wanted by the police cannot reside abroad with a Maldivian passport. They also said that nowadays such people are increasing and it is seen as an obstruction to deliver justice.
Immigration said that now they have informed concerned authorities about the cancellation of the passport of these 5 individuals. If they are to return to the Maldives, they can request the foreign ministry for travel documents.
