Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that his campaign for the upcoming Presidential Election is being obstructed by President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
Nasheed said this while speaking at a campaign event held at Mandhu College last night.
“Our campaign is being obstructed by Waheed every single day. He obstructs [our campaign] in the guise of the work the work of the JSC. He obstructs [our campaign] in the guise of the work of the police,” said Nasheed.
Nasheed said that MDP members have not ‘slept well’ since 7 February 2012, and President Waheed had pressed charges against several members of MDP.
Meanwhile, members of MDP, holding MDP flags, protested and tried to obstruct President Waheed’s team as they arrived in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo as part of their ongoing campaign tour. Some protesters were injured in the unrest in Thinadhoo.
MDP supporters also obstructed President Waheed when he arrived in Fuvahmulah recently.
